Comments

  1. After TOYOTA SIENTA model were conducted 4 TNCAP impact tests, the results are as follows:
    (1) For "Offset Deformable Barrier Frontal Impact Tests", the driver and passenger have "Good " or "Adequate" protection in body parts. However, there is a rupture in the driver's footwell after the collision, which may cause injury to the feet, so points were deducted.
    (2) For "Full Width Frontal Impact Tests”, the driver has "Good" or "Adequate" protection in body parts. However, the head of the rear passenger experienced significant forward displacement during the collision, and the head sustained injuries exceeding restriction limit, therefore, it is rated as “poor” protection and no points were awarded for the dummy.
    (3) For "Side Impact Mobile Deformable Barrier Tests", all important body parts have "Good" protection and get full points.
    (4) Under more severe test conditions of the "Oblique Pole Side Impact Tests", all important body parts have "Good" or "Adequate" protection.

  2. In the front seat and rear seat whiplash tests, the front seat has "Good" protection for the occupant's neck. Due to the insufficient effective height of the rear headrest and the large gap between the dummy's head and the headrest, a rear-end collision is likely to cause a whiplash effect on the occupant's neck, therefore, it is rated as "poor" protection and no points were awarded for rear seat whiplash test.

  3. This vehicle model has a standard-fit autonomous emergency braking system, which is rated as "Good" protection in the City test scenarios, the collision only occurred between 45km/h to 50km/h, but the system can mitigate the degree of injury. However, the functions of human machine interface (HMI) do not meet the protocol, so no points were awarded for the HMI.

  1. After TOYOTA SIENTA model were conducted impact tests for the 6-year-old and 10-year-old child dummies, the results are as follows:
    (1) For "Offset Deformable Barrier Frontal Impact Tests", the 6-year-old child dummy experienced greater force on the neck and chest during forward movement, leading to a "Weak" rating for protection. Additionally, the head sustained severe injuries exceeding restriction limits, so no points were awarded for the dummy. The 10-year-old child dummy had "Good" or "Adequate" protection for important body parts.
    (2) For "Side Impact Mobile Deformable Barrier Tests", all important body parts have "Good" protection and get full points.

  2. The car owner's manual clearly records the information on child restraint system applicable to the rear seat. The outer seats can be correctly installed with all types of child restraint system (universal, ISOFIX and i-Size) after testing, but only the ABC design GmbH Risus child restraint system can be installed in the middle seat position. Besides, the vehicle is equipped with the function of installing i-Size child restraint system on the left and right seats of the second row with i-Size labels, it could also accommodate larger rear-facing child restraint system.

  1. After TOYOTA SIENTA model were conducted headform impact tests of pedestrian protection, as the headform impacted at vehicle's A-pillar and its adjacent areas of the windshield, the head protection performance was rated as "Weak" or "Poor", and the rest areas of the hood has rated as "Good" or "Adequate" protection. After the pelvis and leg impact tests, the front bumper of the vehicle was rated as "Good" protection on the pedestrian's legs. However, part of front structure of vehicle caused larger impact force on the femur and pelvis of pedestrian, therefore it was rated as "Marginal" or "Poor" protection.

  2. The vehicle variant under test is not equipped with an AEB VRU system, therefore no points were awarded for this item.

  1. TOYOTA SIENTA is not equipped with a speed assist system. Therefore, this item was not awarded the points.

  2. Only front seats are equipped with a standard-fit seatbelt reminder, which effectively alerts driver through audiovisual warnings, but rear passenger seats are not equipped with seatbelt reminder, and therefore no points were awarded for rear passenger seats.

  3. Lane support system only has lane departure warning function, when the vehicle drifts from the driving lane, the lane departure warning system can alert the driver to correct the driving direction to the original driving path. However, it doesn’t have lane keeping assist function (LKA) and all functions of human machine interface (HMI) do not meet the protocol, and therefore no points were awarded for LKA and HMI.

  4. This vehicle model is equipped with a standard-fit autonomous emergency braking system, which is rated as "Adequate" protection in high-speed performance tests. However, the functions of human machine interface do not meet the protocol. 3 test results are as below:
    (1) Car-to-Car Rear Stationary (CCRs) of FCW tests, collision occurred between 65km/h to 80km/h, but the system can mitigate the degree of injury.
    (2) Car-to-Car Rear Moving (CCRm) of FCW tests, collision occurred at 80km/h, but the system can mitigate the degree of injury. For AEB tests, collision occurred between 60km/h to 70km/h, but the system can mitigate the degree of injury.
    (3) Car-to-Car Rear Braking (CCRb) of FCW tests, collision occurred at 12m headway with decelerations of 2m/s², 6m/s² and 40m headway with decelerations of 6m/s², but the system can mitigate the degree of injury. For AEB tests, collision occurred at 12m and 40m headway with deceleration of 2 m/s², 6m/s², but the system can mitigate the degree of injury.
