Comments

  1. After KIA SPORTAGE model were conducted 4 TNCAP impact tests, the results are as follows:
    (1)
For "Offset Deformable Barrier Frontal Impact Tests", the driver and front passenger have "Good" or "Adequate" protection in all body parts. However, there was insufficient protection in the passenger's front airbag, therefore the points for this item are deducted.
    (2)
For "Full Width Frontal Impact Tests", the driver has "Good" protection in all body parts. The rear seat passengers' head and neck have "Marginal" protection. However, the chest protection performance was rated as “Weak” due to the relatively high chest injury caused by the seatbelt restraint forces during the impact.
    (3)
For "Side Impact Mobile Deformable Barrier Tests", important body parts have "Good" protection and get full score.
    (4)
Under more severe test conditions of the "Oblique Pole Side Impact Tests", the driver's chest has "Marginal" protection. Other important body parts have "Good" protection.
    (5)
The vehicle manufacturer does not provide rescue sheet. After the impact test, the doors can be opened manually, and the seatbelts can be released normally.
  2. In the front seat and rear seat whiplash tests, the front seat has "Marginal" protection for the occupant's neck. Due to the insufficient effective height of the rear headrests, a rear-end collision is likely to cause a whiplash effect on the occupant's neck, therefore no points are awarded for the rear seats which are rated as "Poor" protection.
  3. This vehicle model has a standard-fit autonomous emergency braking system, which performed well with collisions avoided in all AEB City test scenarios. However, as the front seat whiplash protection performance did not achieve a "Good" rating, no points are awarded for the AEB City.

Comments

  1. After KIA SPORTAGE model were conducted impact tests for the 6-year-old and 10-year-old child dummies, the results are as follows:
    (1)
For "Offset Deformable Barrier Frontal Impact Tests", the 6-year-old child dummy's neck protection is rated as "Marginal", but the head underwent significant injury resulting in "Weak" protection. The 10-year-old child dummy's neck protection is rated as "Marginal" and other important body parts have "Good" protection. However, the dummy was not effectively restrained as it moved forward and the seatbelt strap slipped from its shoulder, the points for this item are deducted.
    (2)
For "Side Impact Mobile Deformable Barrier Tests", important body parts have "Good" protection and get full score.
  2. The car owner's manual clearly records the information on child restraint system applicable to the rear seat. The rear seat can be correctly installed with all types of child restraint system (universal and ISOFIX) after being tested. Vehicle manufacturer recommends suitable child restraint system information for different age groups and it can also accommodate larger rear-facing child restraint system. However, the vehicle is not equipped with the function of installing i-Size child restraint system, and the front passenger airbag warning label did not comply with the protocols, therefore no points are awarded for this item.

  1. After KIA SPORTAGE model were conducted headform impact tests of pedestrian protection, as the headform impacted at vehicle's bottom part of A-pillar, the lower edge of the windshield and the adjacent areas of the headlamp, the head protection performance is rated as "Weak" or "Poor", and the rest of the hood is rated as "Good" or "Adequate" protection. For the pelvis impact test, part of front structure of the vehicle caused larger impact force on the femur and pelvis of pedestrian, which is rated as "Weak" or "Poor" protection. For the leg impact test, the front bumper of the vehicle is rated as "Good" protection on the pedestrian's legs.
  2. This vehicle model has a standard-fit autonomous emergency braking system. In vulnerable road user test scenarios, all the functions of human machine interface meet the protocol and 9 test results are as below:
    (1)
Car-to- Pedestrian Farside Adult (50%) tests, collisions occurred between 55km/h to 60km/h for day scenario, and the system can mitigate the degree of injuries.
    (2)
Car-to-Pedestrian Nearside Adult (25%) tests, collisions occurred between 30km/h to 35km/h, 55km/h to 60km/h for day scenario and the system can mitigate the degree of injuries, and collisions occurred at 60km/h for night scenario and the system can mitigate the degree of injuries.
    (3)
Car-to-Pedestrian Nearside Adult (75%) tests, collisions occurred at 60km/h for day and night scenarios and the system can mitigate the degree of injuries.
    (4)
Car-to-Pedestrian Nearside Child (50%) tests, collisions occurred between 45km/h to 60km/h and the system can mitigate the degree of injuries.
    (5)
Car-to-Pedestrian Longitudinal Adult (50%) tests, the system performed well to avoid all collisions between 20km/h to 60km/h for day scenario. Collisions occurred at 60km/h for night scenario and the system can mitigate the degree of injuries.
    (6)
Car-to-Pedestrian Longitudinal Adult (25%) tests, the FCW system meets the warning requirements between 50km/h to 80km/h for day scenario. The FCW system does not meet the warning requirements between 70km/h to 80km/h for night scenario.
    (7)
Car-to-Bicyclist Nearside Adult (50%) tests, collisions occurred between 55km/h to 60km/h but the system cannot mitigate the degree of injuries.
    (8)
Car-to-Bicyclist Longitudinal Adult (50%) tests, the system performed well to avoid all collisions between 25km/h to 60km/h.
    (9)
Car-to-Bicyclist Longitudinal Adult (25%) tests, the system meets the warning requirements between 50km/h to 80km/h.

Comments

  1. KIA SPORTAGE is not equipped with speed assist system and therefore no point is awarded for this item.
  2. Both front and rear seats are equipped with a standard-fit seatbelt reminder. However, the visual warning of driver seat does not meet the requirements and the rear seats are not equipped with occupant detection system, therefore no points are awarded. Besides, the standard-fit driver state monitoring system of the vehicle model meets the requirements but the seatbelt reminder of front seat does not meet the requirements, therefore no points are awarded.
  3. The vehicle is equipped with a standard-fit lane support system. In the overtaking scenario of emergency lane keeping, 6 test scenarios (with both VUT and GVT travelling at 72 km/h and a lateral speed of 05 to 0.7 m/s; VUT travelling at 72 km/h, GVT travelling at 80 km/h and a lateral speed of 05 to 0.7 m/s) failed to effectively avoid  collision. Besides, in the test of road edge scenario of lane keeping assist, the system cannot automatically intervene to correct the driving direction to the original driving path, therefore the points for this item are deducted. Furthermore, all the functions of human machine interface meet the protocol.
  4. This vehicle model is equipped with a standard-fit autonomous emergency braking system, which is rated as "Good" protection in high-speed performance tests. However, the functions of human machine interface do not meet the protocol, therefore no points are awarded. 3 test results are as below:
    (1)
Car-to-Car Rear Stationary (CCRs) of FCW tests, collision occurred at 65km/h on the left front (75% overlap) and 75km/h on the left front (50% overlap) of the vehicle. However, the system can mitigate the degree of injury.
    (2)
Car-to-Car Rear Moving (CCRm) of FCW and AEB tests, the vehicle performed well to avoid all collisions.
    (3)
Car-to-Car Rear Braking (CCRb) of FCW and AEB tests, collision occurred at 12m headway with decelerations of 6m/s². However, the system can mitigate the degree of injuries.
  5. The vehicle variant is equipped as standard with a blind spot assist system, including blind spot detection and blind spot visualization functions. When a motorcycle enters the blind spot area, the blind spot detection function can effectively provides visual warnings however, the blind spot visualization function cannot display clear images. In accordance with the assessment protocol, full points may be awarded if either function meets the criteria; therefore, this item received the full score.
